It is a portable blood pressure monitor with an arm cuff attached to a small recording device. It is worn continuously for 24 hours and normally measures about twice per hour during that time.

It is applied and removed by the practice nurses, and results reviewed by the doctor, and then discussed with you by your doctor.

24 hour blood pressure monitoring is the best way to measure blood pressure if you find you are nervous at the doctor, or often have high blood pressure during a doctor visit.
